Three Reasons To Buy An Android Smartphone

Buying a smartphone is not easy these days. Besides brands like Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, LG, Sony, Acer, not to mention Apple and Blackberry; consumers also struggle with choosing from a variety of mobile platforms including Android, iOS, Blackberry OS, Java, Windows Mobile, and HP WebOS - okay, that one's dead. Back in the old days, you buy phones by their brand. Nowadays however, you must look at a phone's operating system first before you look at the brand. And there are three reasons why I chose Android.

VARIETY

Samsung, Motorola, LG, Sony, and Acer are five major brands that use Android to run their smartphones. That leaves you plenty to choose from. Last 2011, Samsung produced 24 phones running on Android whereas Motorola came up with 25 phones. Blackberry, Apple, and all others leave you with less options compared to the vast number of Android-powered phones.

COST

Aside from variety in phone models and brands, Android also gives you the flexibility to make a choice based on cost. Unlike Blackberry, Apple, and Nokia which only sell mid-range to high-end smartphones, Android dabbles with the low-end market. The cheapest smartphones you can get run on Android.

VALUE

Setting aside cost, you should also ask yourself "Is it worth this much?" when buying a smartphone. A mid-ranged phone with real-time push notifications and email is always better than a similar priced phone that doesn't have this feature. When weighing the value of a phone, always consider what you need it for. Personally, I chose Android because of my internet-related work. I get emails right away and don't have to pay additional costs for this service.
